RT-LAMP Test

RT-LAMP (Reverse Transcription Loop-mediated Isothermal Amplification) is a single-use test kit used to detect the virus that causes COVID-19. This test is authorized by Health Canada, the FDA in the United States, and other jurisdictions as a point-of-care test, when administered by trained healthcare staff.

The LAMP test uses a lower nasal swab which is inserted into the test device. The device analyzes the sample at the DNA level, and provides results within 30 minutes.

When the analysis is complete, the results are displayed on the device using an easy-to-read light display.

If the test is completed at the CHL clinic, our staff will assist you in collecting the sample. If you complete the test remotely using our telehealth video observation service, CHL staff will walk you through the testing procedure and sequence with the device. Once the results are available, you simply show the test device to the observer on the video link, and they will confirm your results in our patient portal.

Testing certificates are made available through our digital patient portal for both in-clinic and telehealth-observed testing formats.

The LAMP test is rated 98% accurate compared to the highest rated PCR test. It can be used for travel purposes (confirm your destination accepts a LAMP test), to confirm a rapid antigen test result, or for general assurance testing to confirm you're negative for the COVID-19 virus.
